About Bear Creek Cabins
Welcome to the Bear Creek Cabins and RV! We are excited to have you as our guests while we embark on the journey of renovating and reimagining this beloved historic property.
Way back in history, when we were both growing up in the Bear Creek area, our families were uniquely connected to this property. Jason’s grandparents managed the cabins and RV park for many years when he was in elementary school. He spent lots of time in the single wide trailer that he recently demolished as part of our renovation efforts. Nicole’s mother drew and painted the original bear silhouettes that were featured on all the cabins and the side of the office.
Jason used the same pattern when he cut out new bears for the cabins. Fun side note: the bear on the outside and beaver on the inside of each cabin serve a purpose. They block the hole where the chimney from the fireplaces exited the cabins. Sorry - no fireplaces for anyone these days!
Nicole worked at the Hungry Bear (as we locals call it) during high school cleaning rooms, bussing tables and washing dishes. She made her first espresso drinks on the new machine that was featured in the store. One of her favorite projects was to paint the windows of the restaurant during Christmas time.
Renovating the Past, Welcoming Your Future
When we were raising our kids, just a few miles down the road, the Hungry Bear was one of their favorite places to go for dinner, and they always asked for ice cream or a giant cookie. Back then, neither one of us could have imagined that we would be on this great adventure to bring the property back to life.
Please excuse any renovations and repairs that might still be taking place during your stay this summer. We will do our best to not interfere or inconvenience guests, but please be prepared for occasional active projects to be taking place, especially in the lobby and laundry area.
As we continue to improve the property, we welcome feedback and ideas about things that would make your stay more pleasant. Our intent is to increase comfort and coziness without detracting from the rustic, historic nature of the cabins.
